Stephen Fitzpatrick

Stephen Fitzpatrick is the Visiting Professor of Harp at the Royal College of Music in London. He holds a distinguished career as a harpist, having served as Principal Harpist of the Deutsche Staatskapelle Berlin since 2000, and has performed with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and La Scala. He is a founder member of the Boulez Ensemble, dedicated to blending classical and contemporary music. His teaching roles include professorships at the Barenboim-Said Academy (2004–2011) and the Mozarteum in Salzburg (2010–present).

Education: Studied at the Royal College of Music (London), Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and furthered training in Chicago and Amsterdam. His expertise spans orchestral performance, contemporary music, and chamber ensembles. He regularly adjudicates international competitions and delivers masterclasses across Europe.

Research interests focus on contemporary music interpretation and the harp's role in modern orchestral and chamber settings. Active in education, he contributes to the next generation of musicians through his professorships and mentorship.
