معرفی
Dr. Stephen Brown is a Lecturer and Manager of the Sheffield RNAi Screening Facility (SRSF) at the University of Sheffield's School of Biosciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham (1997) and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Cambridge (Zoology and Pathology departments, 1997-2003) and an MRC Career Development Fellowship at the University of Manchester (2004-2008).
His research focuses on functional genomics, siRNA screens, and drug discovery using cell models of human diseases, including cancer and embryonic stem cells. He collaborates with experts in nano-peptide technologies, stem cell biology, and signaling pathways. His facility supports over 50 international RNAi screens annually, leveraging robotics and genome editing tools.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on biomedical technology, drug discovery, and genomic screening at both undergraduate and master's levels. He leads the MSc module 'Genomic Approaches to Drug Discovery.'
- Grants: Co-investigator on EPSRC grant (2016-2019) for antibody-functionalized silk microarrays in cancer research.
- Professional Roles: Founded the UK RNAi & Functional Genomics Group and Stem Cell Phenotyping Consortium.
He actively contributes to academic outreach through symposium organization and editorial roles in journals.
