Stephen Borgianini

Dr. Stephen A. Borgianini is an Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB). He holds offices in Bluffton (SCITECH 104) and Hilton Head Island, with a lab space in Lab 201. His research focuses on the ecological impacts of sea level rise and freshwater runoff on coastal habitats, particularly the high-salinity estuaries of the Sea Islands region. His work emphasizes plant and animal community dynamics under environmental stressors.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in Ecology and Evolution, Conservation Biology, Marine Ecology, and the Biology of Marine Organisms. He also oversees independent studies and lab courses (e.g., B301L, B475L).

Research interests span coastal conservation strategies, crustacean biodiversity, and the ecological resilience of estuarine systems. He collaborates with students on field studies assessing habitat vulnerability in South Carolina and Georgia's coastal regions.
