Stephen Boahen Asabere

Dr. Stephen Boahen Asabere serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Geography at the University of Göttingen's Faculty of Geoscience and Geography. His research addresses urgent environmental challenges including urban sprawl, unsustainable agriculture, and global change stressors through interdisciplinary analysis of biogeochemical cycles and landscape processes.

His primary research domains encompass environmental soil geochemistry, ecosystem element cycling (C, N, P, Si), applied remote sensing/GIS, and urban landscape ecology. Current projects investigate SOC dynamics in tropical urban agroecosystems (DFG-funded), temperature regulation mechanisms by urban greenspaces, silicon cycling in agroecosystems, and alpine microclimate patterns.

Dr. Asabere actively contributes to academic service as a selection committee member for Geography, EGUsphere preprint moderator, and holds memberships in the European Geosciences Union (EGU), German Soil Science Society (DBG), International Association of Landscape Ecology (IALE-D), and International Association of Urban Climate (IAUC).

His methodological approach integrates geospatial modeling, vegetation assessment, and laboratory analyses across diverse ecosystems including tropical/temperate urban areas, agroecosystems, forests, grasslands, and alpine regions.
