Stephanie Villalba

Stephanie Villalba is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) within the College of Arts and Sciences. She joined LSUS in 2020 after completing her PhD in Cellular Biology and Anatomy (2017) and serving as an Instructor at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (2017-2020) and Grambling State University (2013-2017). Her primary roles involve teaching human anatomy, physiology, neuroanatomy, and histology to medical and allied health students.

Dr. Villalba’s research focuses on neuroscience and medical education. Her work includes pharmacogenetic studies of epilepsy models, neurocardiac dynamics in SUDEP, and anatomical education innovations. She collaborates with faculty at LSUS and LSU Health Science Center – Shreveport.

Recent publications span neurology, pharmacogenetics, and medical education, with key studies on epilepsy, neurocardiac interactions, and microlens technology applications. She has contributed to understanding SUDEP mechanisms and novel surgical interventions for short gut syndrome.

Teaching assignments include Human Anatomy & Physiology I/II and Clinical Neuroanatomy. Her expertise in histology and neuroanatomy informs both her research and instructional practices.
