Stephanie T. Burns serves as Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program within the Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology Department at Western Michigan University's College of Education and Human Development. A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Ohio and Michigan and National Certified Counselor (NCC), she advises the Mu Beta Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota and previously co-chaired its Professional Advocacy Committee for six years.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. and M.Ed. from Kent State University and a B.F.A. from the University of Akron.
Dr. Burns' research spans stress/guilt/shame responses, mental health assessment, counselor professional identity, ethical decision-making, career interest inventories, neurofeedback, and program evaluation. Her work critically examines counselor education practices, professional identity formation, and ethical boundaries while addressing adolescent/adult mental health through both clinical and assessment lenses.
