Stephanie Kang

Stephanie Kang is an Assistant Professor in Art & Art History and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies at the University of Denver's School of Art and Art History, within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on contemporary art, new media theory, critical race studies, and queer theory. She holds a PhD in Art History from The Ohio State University (2022), an MFA in Visual Art from Washington University in St. Louis (2015), and a BFA from Calvin University (2013).

Dr. Kang has curated notable exhibitions, including Robert O'Neal: Open to All (2023), Cameron Granger: The Cartographer Tries to Map a Way to Heaven (2022), and I Am Here/You Were There (2022). Her essays appear in Media-N, Utopian Studies, Flash Art, Cinephile, and the publication An American City: Eleven Cultural Exercises (FRONT International). She previously served as Assistant Curator at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati.

At DU, she teaches courses integrating art history with critical race and ethnic studies frameworks. Her work bridges curatorial practice, academic scholarship, and interdisciplinary dialogue on race, gender, and technology in contemporary visual culture.
