Dr. Stephanie Ivey is a Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Memphis and Associate Director of the Division of Transportation and Logistics at the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER). She leads the Southeast Transportation Workforce Center and the West Tennessee STEM Hub, focusing on K-12 STEM outreach. Her research spans community livability, transportation operations/policy, workforce development, and STEM education. She serves on national committees including the Transportation Research Board and ITE International, and advises the University of Memphis student chapter of ITE.
Research interests include leveraging social media/sentiment analysis for livability assessments, performance measurement in Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO), and strategies to increase diversity in transportation and STEM fields. She has received numerous awards including the 2020 Wilbur S. Smith Distinguished Transportation Educator Award and 2019 STEM Advocate of the Year.
Her publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to transportation challenges and STEM education equity, with recent work exploring urban STEM collaboratives, complete streets frameworks, and workforce diversity initiatives. She teaches courses like Transformative Technologies in Engineering and Transportation Systems Engineering, and actively engages in curriculum development integrating GIS and probabilistic methods.
