معرفی
Stephanie Goodhew is an Associate Professor at the School of Medicine and Psychology, The Australian National University (ANU), holding this position since 2021. Previously, she served as an ARC Future Fellow (2017-2021), Senior Lecturer (2017-2020), and ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher (2014-2016). Her research bridges cognitive theory with real-world applications in driving safety, migraine awareness, and attentional mechanisms.
Her academic background includes:
- PhD in Psychology from the University of Queensland (2008-2011), awarded Dean’s Award for Research Higher Degree Excellence
- Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons I) with University Medal from the University of Queensland (2004-2007)
Goodhew's work centers on individual differences across seven interconnected domains: cognitive failures and objective performance; safe driving mechanisms in older adults; dynamic attentional rescaling; empathy components; emotion-anxiety-attention interactions; low-prevalence visual search; and migraine cognition. Her approach uniquely integrates laboratory findings with critical real-world implications, such as reducing crash risks and improving migraine treatment accessibility.
Her 2024 publications reveal consistent thematic threads: the impact of working memory on visual attention during natural scene viewing; anxiety-related cognitive failures; and individual differences in emotion-induced attentional phenomena. These works demonstrate methodological rigor while addressing urgent practical challenges in cognitive safety and healthcare.
Key recognitions include:
- ARC Future Fellowship (2017-2021)
- ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2014-2016)
- University Medal for undergraduate studies
- Dean’s Award for PhD research excellence
Goodhew leads significant research initiatives with substantial real-world impact:
- Crash risk prediction in provisional drivers (2024-2026) and older adults (2022-2023)
- Migraine cognition studies examining Rimegepant's effects (2023-2025)
- Attentional rescaling projects investigating cognitive mechanisms (2017-2022)
She maintains active collaborations with M. Edwards, N. Wyche, and M. Horswill across psychology and medical disciplines, particularly in developing cognitive interventions for driving safety and migraine management through interdisciplinary teams.
