Dr. Stephanie Egge is an Infectious Diseases provider and Research Fellow at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Division of Infectious Diseases. Her clinical and research focus revolves around antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, particularly in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus faecalis, with an emphasis on immunocompromised host infections. She relocated to Portland, OR in 2023 to continue investigating Pseudomonas resistance mechanisms under mentorship of Dr. Morgan Hakki.
- Education: B.S. (2012, University of Washington), M.D. (2017, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center)
- Fellowships: UT Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center (Immunocompromised Infectious Diseases, 2020–2022), Houston Methodist Hospital T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship (2023)
Research interests include optimizing novel cephalosporin use, antimicrobial stewardship, and host-pathogen interactions in immunosuppressed populations. Her work bridges clinical practice and translational research, addressing critical gaps in treating drug-resistant infections.
Publications highlight her contributions to understanding resistance mechanisms in gram-negative bacteria and rare infectious complications of HIV and trauma. Current research aims to improve treatment strategies for multidrug-resistant pathogens in vulnerable patient groups.
