Stephanie De Anda is an Associate Professor and HEDCO Professor in the Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences at the University of Oregon's College of Education. She directs the Communication Disorders and Sciences Program and leads the Early Dual Language Development Lab. Her research focuses on bilingual language acquisition in Spanish-English children, culturally responsive assessment practices, and public health interventions for Latinx communities. De Anda holds a PhD from San Diego State University/UC San Diego and a BS in Cognitive Science from UC San Diego.

Research Interests: Dr. De Anda investigates bilingual cognitive development, equitable assessment practices for Latinx children, and translation of research into community health initiatives. She co-develops tools like the Language Access Profile Tool and English-Spanish Vocabulary Inventory to address diagnostic biases. Her NIH-funded work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration between clinicians, researchers, and community partners.

Advising & Grants: Accepting PhD students for 2025-26. Her NIH grants support projects on pandemic response in Latinx communities and bilingual language delays. The Early Dual Language Lab engages undergraduate/graduate researchers in both academic and applied projects.
Labs/Teams: Directs the cross-disciplinary Early Dual Language Development Lab, collaborating with psychologists, linguists, and public health experts. Partnerships include community organizations to co-design interventions addressing language barriers in healthcare and education.
