Stephanie D. Boone, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health and Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville (UofL). Her research focuses on cancer disparities across the cancer continuum, including screening, risk, survival, and survivorship. She investigates biological and behavioral factors influencing health disparities, particularly in Kentucky, which has high cancer incidence and mortality rates. Boone earned a BS in Biology from Spalding University (2006), MPH (2008), and PhD in Public Health-Epidemiology (2013) from UofL.
Her research interests include epidemiologic methods (study design), identification of biological pathways in tumor subtypes, and evaluation of quality of life among cancer survivors. She has contributed to studies like the Breast Cancer Health Disparities Study and served as coordinator of a population-based cancer case-control study. Boone teaches Emerging Issues in Epidemiology and is an active member of the American College of Epidemiology.
Awards: Boone has received multiple accolades, including first-place awards from Research! Louisville (2014–2015), the American College of Epidemiology Travel Award (2013), and a Susan B. Komen Dissertation Grant (2010–2013).
Labs/Teams: Her work is affiliated with the Brown Cancer Center and the School of Public Health and Information Sciences at UofL. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address cancer disparities through population health interventions and molecular epidemiology.
