Stephanie Burt is the Donald P. and Katherine B. Loker Professor of English at Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS). Her office is located at Barker 270, and she holds regular office hours. She earned a B.A. from Harvard in 1994 and a Ph.D. from Yale in 2000.
Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century poetry, science fiction, literature’s relationship with geography, contemporary writing, comics, and intersections between literature and other arts. She hosts the podcast Team-up Moves and teaches a creative writing workshop on poetry.
Burt’s publications include critical works like The Poem Is You (2016) and poetry collections such as We are Mermaids (2022). Her writing explores formal innovation, interdisciplinary approaches, and the public role of poetry. She is currently on leave for Spring 2025.
