Stephanie Burnett is an Associate Professor of Horticulture at the University of Maine, affiliated with the School of Food and Agriculture. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia (2004). Her research focuses on sustainable greenhouse plant production, particularly improving irrigation efficiency and developing cut flower production techniques. She teaches courses including Introduction to Horticulture and Greenhouse Management, and co-instructs the Online Greenhouse Scout School.
Her professional interests span floriculture and greenhouse management. Notable research includes studies on dahlia cultivars, submist propagation systems, and urban agricultural innovations. She has authored/co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles in journals like HortTechnology and HortScience, focusing on plant propagation methods and environmental horticulture.
Burnett’s work emphasizes practical applications for sustainable agriculture, such as optimizing water use and advancing propagation technologies. Her laboratory and teaching spaces are located in Deering Hall and Rogers Hall on the University of Maine campus.
