Stephan Wehrli is an Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department at Syracuse University, specializing in low-dimensional topology and categorification. His research focuses on homology theories for knots and links, including Khovanov Homology and annular Khovanov homology. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Zurich (2007) and a B.S. from the University of Basel (2002).
Research interests include knot theory, categorified quantum groups, and topological invariants. Recent work explores functoriality in sl(2) tangle homology and actions of gl(1|1) on odd annular Khovanov homology. His grants include support from the Simons Foundation (2019-2025) and NSF (2022-2023) for topology-related projects.
Teaching responsibilities include courses like MAT 531 (Linear Algebra), MAT 661 (Topology), and MAT 761 (Algebraic Topology). He has served as Chair of the Graduate Committee (2023-2024) and organized conferences like the Third Upstate New York Topology Seminar (2022). Contact: 304B Carnegie Library | smwehrli@syr.edu
