Stephan Tillmann is a Professor of Geometric Topology at the University of Sydney and Executive Director of the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute. He has held visiting positions at institutions including the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology.

Research Interests: His work focuses on geometric topology, particularly 3-manifolds, character varieties, triangulations, and hyperbolic structures. He explores connections between tropical geometry and normal surfaces, as well as computational methods in low-dimensional topology.
