Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Scholl is a University Professor for Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering and Managing Director of the Institute for Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technische Universität Braunschweig. His research focuses on heat transfer, distillation, extraction, absorption, and physical properties in process engineering, with significant contributions to industrial R&D during his 11-year tenure at BASF AG prior to academia. He is actively involved in ProcessNet working groups and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics.
- Education: Studied Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Process Engineering at TU Munich (1979-1985), completed doctoral research on sorption kinetics.
- Research Interests: Chemical and thermal process engineering, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, adsorption technologies, and industrial process optimization.
He leads a multidisciplinary team including Louisa Hornung, Johanna Hammel, and 22 other researchers/students, and maintains memberships in key academic committees including the Advisory Board of ProcessNet and the Catholic Academic Exchange Service (KAAD) Academic Committee.
