Stephan Rinnert

Dr. Stephan Rinnert serves as Vice Chairman for Education and Faculty Development in the Department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate / Kings County Hospital. He directs both the EM Categorical and EM/IM Combined Residency Programs while overseeing Faculty Development and Education initiatives.

Dr. Rinnert's primary research interests include International Medicine, Medical Education, Faculty Development, and Simulation Training. His international work spans Germany, Western Africa, Turkey, Iran, and Haiti, reflecting his commitment to global emergency medicine education and practice. He has been instrumental in developing center-wide simulation and advanced learning resource facilities at the medical school level.

His recent publications demonstrate consistent contributions to emergency medicine education, systems-based practice, and international emergency care. Key themes include clinical performance assessment tools, emergency department process optimization, and innovative educational approaches for diverse medical contexts.
