Stephan Parmentier is a Full Professor at the Catholic University of Leuven's Faculty of Law and Criminology since 1997. He coordinates the Research Line on Human Rights and Transitional Justice at the Leuven Institute of Criminology and serves as Vice Dean for International Relations. His roles include Chairperson of the Interfaculty Council for Development Cooperation and Member of the Ethical Commission on Dual Use & Military Use of Research.
- Education: Law, Political Science, and Sociology at Ghent and Leuven Universities (Belgium); Conflict Resolution at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (USA)
Research Interests: Focus on political crimes, transitional justice, human rights/migration, restorative justice, and peacebuilding. His fieldwork spans Bosnia/Serbia, Central & Southern Africa, and Central & South America.

- Award 'Third Way' from Serbian Society of Victimology (2017)
- Distinguished Visitor at Macquarie University (2013)
- Fellow of the International Institute for the Sociology of Law
Advisory Roles: Served as advisor to Belgian Ministers of Interior/Justice, Belgian Federal Police, King Baudouin Foundation, and European Committee for Prevention of Torture. Appointed to Belgium's national human rights institution expert committee (2018–2020).
Labs & Networks: Co-founded the Flemish Interuniversity Research Network on Law and Development and established KU Leuven's Fund on Transitional Justice (2016). Co-founded the Academic Network on Memory, Truth, and Justice (2020).
