Professor Stephan Leyer leads the Applied Thermodynamics group at the University of Luxembourg's Department of Engineering. His research focuses on transport phenomena in fluid systems with applications in nuclear safety, energy optimization, and filtration technology.
Research areas include energy system analysis, nuclear reactor safety, gas dynamics, and multiphase flow modeling. Recent projects examine passive containment cooling systems and membrane distillation enhancement.
Industrial experience includes former roles at AREVA Group and Framatome ANP GmbH in fluid dynamics development and reactor design. He holds a PhD in Physics from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
