Stenio Fernandes holds the position of Adjunct Research Professor at Carleton University and Adjunct Faculty at the University of Ottawa. He is currently a Professor of Computer Science at the Center for Informatics (CIn) at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil. His professional roles include leading AI Platform teams at Element AI, focusing on Time-dependent problems like Time Series Forecasting and Anomaly Detection applied to industry verticals such as Capital Markets and Cybersecurity.

Research Interests: His work spans Internet Traffic Analysis, Network Virtualization, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and Spatio-Temporal Modelling. He has pioneered methodologies for congestion control in multimedia streaming and mobility management in heterogeneous networks. Recent projects emphasize AI-driven solutions for industry challenges in retail and manufacturing.
