Steinar Andreas Sæther is a Professor at the University of Oslo, specializing in Latin American and Caribbean history from 1700 to 1940. His research focuses on the transition from colonies to independent states in Latin America and Nordic migration to the region between 1820 and 1940. Recently, he has explored Scandinavian experiences in California during the gold rush (1848-1860).
