Steffen Vaupel

Prof. Dr. Steffen Vaupel is a Professor at the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM), where he has been affiliated since 2021. His research focuses on Mobile Applications, Software Engineering, and Model-Driven Development, with a strong emphasis on systematic testing and requirements engineering for mobile systems.

• Education: Part-time Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science (2009–2011) at Philipps University of Marburg, followed by a PhD in 2017 with a dissertation on mobile application modeling languages.

Research Interests span mobile app development, domain-specific modeling, and quality assurance in both native and multiplatform environments. His work bridges academic insights with practical implementations in industry collaborations.

Past Projects include Mobile Testing (2018–2020, ZIM), Distributed Model-Driven Software Development (2014–2016, DFG), and PIMAR – Platform Independent Mobile Augmented Reality (2012–2014, LOEWE-KMU). These projects highlight his expertise in mobile systems and tool development.

• Thesis Supervision: Over 40 theses (2016–2025) across bachelor’s and master’s levels, including topics like adaptive AI apps, digital twins, georeferencing, Kotlin multiplatform, UML model transformations, and sustainable cloud services for electric vehicles.
