Steffen Koolmann

Steffen Koolmann is an Honorary Professor for Economics and Society at Alanus University since 2018, alongside holding the Chair of the Board of Social Therapeutic Communities Weckelweiler e.V. since 2018. He previously served as Professor for Economics and Society (2011–present), Vice Rector (2009–2013), and Managing Director of Alanus University GmbH (2010–2013). He leads the Institute for Educational Economics (since 2008) and founded the Institute for Social Economic Management (ISU) in 2005.

Education: Dr. rer. pol. (1991) and Dipl.-Volkswirt (1986) from Goethe University Frankfurt, and Wirtschaftsingenieur studies at Technical University Darmstadt (1980–1981).

Research focuses on non-profit economics, Waldorf school management, and social foundations. Key works include analyses of Waldorf school financial structures, non-profit project management, and the economic role of foundations. He has advised institutions like the GLS Gemeinschaftsbank and the Bank für Sozialwirtschaft.

Professional roles span leadership in Waldorf education associations, including the Rudolf Steiner School Association Nuremberg (1992–2000). His lectures address topics like organizational culture in Waldorf schools and economic responsibility in education.
