Stefano Soriani

Stefano Soriani is Full Professor of Economic and Political Geography at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where he also serves as Director of the Interdepartmental School of Economics, Languages and Entrepreneurship, Scientific Coordinator of the Center for the Study of Economics and Management of the Seaport, and member of the Department of Economics’ Committee.

Research Interests span port economics and management, maritime transport, sustainable development, climate change adaptation, urban and metropolitan governance, coastal zone management, and tourism. His work critically examines the interplay between global dynamics and local transformations, particularly in Venice, the Adriatic, and comparative contexts like Tokyo.

Publications (2021-2024) reveal a consistent focus on water-related urban challenges—flood adaptation, waterfront redevelopment, port-lagoon interactions—and broader themes of ecological transition, geopolitical shifts in maritime logistics, and digital governance. Studies integrate empirical case analyses with policy evaluation, employing multi-criteria decision methods and stakeholder engagement.
