Stefano Guzzini

Stefano Guzzini holds the position of Chair of Political and Social Theory and Swiss Co-chair in Federalism, Democracy, and International Governance at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence. He is on long-term leave from Uppsala University and the Danish Institute for International Studies. Previously, he taught at institutions such as the Central European University and PUC-Rio. His research focuses on critical security studies, foreign policy analysis, and the intersection of power with international relations theory.

Thematic expertise includes diplomacy, critical security studies, and multilateral negotiations. Geographical expertise spans Europe, with a focus on Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western regions. His work has been recognized with awards like the 2014 ISA Theory Section Book Award for Power, Realism and Constructivism.
