Dr. Stefanie Fishel is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of the Sunshine Coast's School of Law and Society. She holds a PhD from The Johns Hopkins University and has held academic positions at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, University of Alabama, and visiting fellowships at UNSW Canberra and Griffith University.
Her research explores interdisciplinary intersections of political theory, environmental justice, and posthumanism. Key focus areas include:
- Gendered/racialized dimensions of environmental harm
- Critical animal studies and multispecies ethics
- Biotechnological impacts on global governance
- Climate change politics in the Anthropocene
Publication analysis reveals consistent focus on deconstructing anthropocentric political frameworks through ecological metaphors. Recent works emphasize forest ecosystems, microbial analogies, and nonhuman agency in global politics.
