Stefanie Engel

Prof. Dr. Stefanie Engel is the Alexander von Humboldt Professor of Environmental Economics at the University of Osnabrück, within the School of Business Administration and Economics, Department of Environmental Economics. She holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Maryland (USA). Her research focuses on Behavioral and Experimental Economics, Environmental Policy Design, and Natural Resources Management. She leads projects on participatory interventions for sustainable resource governance and climate adaptation strategies.

Key Contributions: Co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles on topics like payments for ecosystem services, agricultural sustainability, and biodiversity governance. Leads EU-funded projects such as FRAMEwork, examining farmer clusters for agrobiodiversity management.

Awards: Alexander von Humboldt Professorship (2014–present).
