Prof. Dr. Stefanie Bailer is a Professor of Political Science and Head of the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Basel. She holds a PhD from the University of Konstanz (2004) and previously served at ETH Zurich (2009–2015) and the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on parliamentary systems in Germany, Switzerland, and Europe; EU decision-making processes; and international negotiation dynamics. She leads projects on civil society advocacy, political distrust, and corruption perceptions.

Her work analyzes how political institutions shape decision-making and influence. Recent studies explore MPs’ social media engagement, parental challenges in legislatures, and cognitive biases in political judgment.
