Stefania Vetrano

Stefania Vetrano serves as Associate Professor in Applied Biology at Humanitas University and Staff Scientist coordinating the Gastrointestinal Immunopathology Laboratory at Humanitas Research Hospital, while also holding the position of Rector's Delegate for Disability and DSA since 2016.

Her academic credentials include:

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (2002) from Sapienza University of Rome
• Specialization in Clinical Pathology (2010) from Sapienza University of Rome
• PhD in Experimental Pathology and Neuropathology (2010) from University of Milan

Dr. Vetrano's research centers on gastrointestinal immunopathology mechanisms, with extensive work on coeliac disease pathogenesis and screening, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, and colorectal cancer etiopathogenesis. Her investigations into innate immune responses during a research period at King's College London have informed ongoing studies of disease mechanisms and diagnostic methodologies within her laboratory.

She maintains active international research partnerships with University of Chicago, Notre Dame University, Alexander Fleming Research Center in Athens, and Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen.
