Stefan Stübinger

PD Dr. Stefan Stübinger serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel, where he leads the Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery and Implantology Group at the High-Tech Research Center in Basel.

His research spans Smart Implants, Biomaterials, Nanotechnology, 3D Printing, Medical Imaging, and Surgical Navigation within Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He directs the third work package of the MIRACLE project (Minimally Invasive Robot-guided Computer-assisted Laser OsteotomE), a Flagship Project funded by the Werner Siemens Foundation, focusing on smart implants, dental implants, nanomaterials, and intelligent materials in oral health. His group employs genomics and proteomics to analyze osseointegration in animal models and investigate nanoparticle effects on healing processes.

Dr. Stübinger spearheads clinical translation efforts within the MIRACLE consortium, leveraging a longstanding collaboration between the Medical Simulation and Robotics Unit (MSRU) and the High-Tech Research Center. His work integrates laser osteotomy, robotics, and augmented reality to advance surgical precision in maxillofacial procedures.
