Prof. Stefan Schneider is Vice-President of the German Sport University Cologne and director of the Centre of Health and Integrative Physiology in Space. He holds an adjunct Professorship at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia). With dual PhDs in sport science and theology, his research focuses on neuro-cognitive performance in extreme environments, brain-exercise interactions, and holistic body-mind health. Key roles include supervising seven PhD candidates and leading projects like NEUROANALOGUE.
Education: Master’s in sport science, PhD in neuroscience, and a second PhD in theology (2013).
Research interests span neuroscience applications in space analogues, cognitive performance under isolation, and exercise’s role in mental health. Notable awards include the DOSB Wissenschaftspreis (2011). He is a peer reviewer for major journals and active in organizations like the European College of Sport Science (ECSS).
Recent articles explore gravity’s effects on neurocognitive performance, behavioral health in space analogs, and lockdown impacts on psychology. His work bridges exercise physiology with extreme environment challenges.
