Dr. Stefan Rinner is an External Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy, University of Salzburg, and an External Member at the Philosophical Seminar of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Hamburg. His research focuses on philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and epistemology, particularly semantic externalism, propositional attitudes, and skepticism. He has published extensively in top-tier philosophy journals such as Synthese and Erkenntnis.
From 2010–2016, he completed both his Masters and PhD at the University of Salzburg, supported by a scholarship from the Autonomous Province of Bolzano-Bozen. In 2017, he joined the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) as a post-doctoral fellow funded by the Fritz-Thyssen Research Grant.
His publications address foundational questions in semantics and epistemology, including the Kripkean causal theory of reference, brain-in-a-vat thought experiments, and Schiffer's puzzle in propositional attitude reports. His work bridges analytic philosophy with contemporary debates in mind and knowledge.
