Stefan Novinski is an Associate Professor of Drama and Interim Chair of the Drama department at the University of Dallas. He also serves as Director of University Theater and has been affiliated with the university since Fall 2009. His professional career includes directing at prominent theaters such as the La Jolla Playhouse and South Coast Repertory. Novinski holds an MFA in Directing from the University of California, San Diego (2000) and a B.A. in English/Drama from the University of Dallas (1992, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa).
His research and professional practice focuses on directing, theatre literature, and Shakespearean performance, including leadership in the Shakespeare in Italy program (2015–present). Notable directing credits include productions of Richard III, Macbeth, and The Aliens, as well as adaptations of classical and contemporary works. He teaches courses such as Theater Literature I/II, Directing, and Directing Lab.
Novinski has held leadership roles in academic and professional organizations, including President of the Eta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa Society (2016–2018). His work bridges academic and professional theatre, emphasizing both classical and modern dramaturgy.
