Dr. rer. nat. Stefan Meng is a researcher and curator at the Chair of Palaeontology & Historical Geology within the Institute of Geography and Geology at the University of Greifswald. Holding a doctorate (2010) and diploma (2003) in Geology/Paleontology from the University of Greifswald and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg respectively, his work focuses on Quaternary mollusks, Pleistocene cold-period fauna, and paleoecological reconstructions.
His research spans Central Asia, the Baltic region, and Central Europe, with notable publications on gastropod faunas, marine deposits, and climate interpretations. He was awarded the Paul Woldstedt Prize (2004) for his diploma thesis. His recent articles (2023) explore ancient whaling ecology, Pleistocene barnacle taxonomy, and Tian Shan human occupation patterns.
