Stefan Hiermaier

Prof. Stefan Hiermaier is a Professor at Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics (Ernst-Mach-Institut, EMI). He leads the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering within the Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH). His expertise spans sustainable systems engineering, high-speed dynamics, numerical modeling, and impact engineering.

Research focuses on additive manufacturing, material behavior under dynamic loads, and structural analysis of advanced materials. A recent publication investigates manufacturing size effects in Ti-6Al-4V microbeams. He collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on livMatS projects and participates in colloquia.
