Prof. Dr. Stefan Borrmann serves as Professor for International Social Work Research at Landshut University of Applied Sciences since March 2009, with additional leadership roles in the German Society for Social Work (DGSA) where he has been a board member since November 2011.
His academic foundation includes graduate studies in education, sociology, psychology, and social pedagogy at Technical University of Berlin, followed by doctoral research on applying scientific knowledge to practical social work contexts. He expanded his expertise as a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley's School of Social Welfare during winter 2004/2005.
Research focuses on theoretical frameworks including social work ethics, action theory, international comparative studies, and youth work methodologies. His scholarly contributions bridge academic theory with practical social work applications across European contexts.
Prior to his professorship, he held a research associate position at Munich's German Youth Institute (DJI) from 2005 to 2009. His DGSA engagement spans over a decade within the Theory and Scientific Development of Social Work section, demonstrating sustained commitment to advancing the discipline through professional organizations.
