Steen Thomsen

Steen Thomsen is a Professor at the Department of Accounting, Copenhagen Business School, and founding director of the Center for Corporate Governance. He specializes in corporate governance as a teacher, researcher, consultant, and commentator.

His research focuses on enterprise foundations, ownership structures, board governance, and sustainable corporate practices. Recent publications analyze foundation-owned firms, ESG frameworks, and steward-ownership models. He has supervised numerous Ph.D. and Master’s students and contributed to corporate governance codes and legislation in Denmark.

Notable projects include studies on industrial foundations during the Corona Crisis, sustainable governance, and long-term ownership dynamics. He writes columns for Børsen and consults for major companies and government bodies.
