Stacy W. Maddern is an Associate Professor-in-Residence and Undergraduate Program Coordinator at the University of Connecticut, affiliated with the Department of Geography, Sustainability, Community, and Urban Studies. She joined the university in 2014, following teaching roles at New York University, the University of Hartford, Central Connecticut State University, and Asnuntuck Community College.

Maddern’s research focuses on urban and community theory, social movements, and the history of education. Her work explores themes such as social capital, organizational theory, urban politics, power dynamics, community development, urban semiotics, and civic participation. These interests are deeply tied to understanding how communities evolve and interact within urban frameworks.
