Stacy Supak is an Associate Teaching Professor at North Carolina State University (NC State), affiliated with the Center for Geospatial Analytics and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management within the College of Natural Resources. She holds a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (2013), an M.S. in Geophysics (2005) from UC Santa Barbara, and a B.S. in Environmental Civil Engineering (2002) from Columbia University. Her research focuses on applying geospatial analytics to support park and protected land management, tourism planning, and environmental decision-making.
Her current courses include GIS 280, GIS 510, and GIS 530, teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. Key research interests span GIS applications in tourism, protected land management strategies, and geology tourism. She has contributed to projects such as the U.S. National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program and NC State Parks’ visitor management initiatives.
Recent grants include a $285k project to identify equitable pricing strategies for NC State Parks (2022–2024) and a $197k study on visitor use data collection (2023–2025). Her work emphasizes equity in park access, dynamic pricing models, and sustainable resource management. She collaborates with NC State’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management and the Center for Geospatial Analytics, advancing interdisciplinary solutions for environmental and tourism challenges.
