Dr. Stacy J. Suskauer serves as Vice President of Rehabilitation at Kennedy Krieger Institute, Director for the Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Professor of physical medicine & rehabilitation and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is also a research scientist and co-director of Kennedy Krieger's Center for Brain Injury Recovery and Brain Injury Clinical Research Center.
Dr. Suskauer's research primarily focuses on understanding and optimizing outcomes after childhood brain injury, including concussion. Her work investigates neuroimaging and neurobehavioral assessments to improve understanding of brain-behavior relationships after traumatic brain injury, identifies relationships between early physiological and functional variables and long-term outcomes, and optimizes evaluation and treatment of children with disorders of consciousness. She also researches functional outcomes in individuals with Sturge-Weber Syndrome and cares for children with limb differences.
With 105 research outputs spanning from 2003 to 2025, Dr. Suskauer maintains an active and growing research program. Her recent publications focus on innovative approaches including telehealth for neurological examinations, establishing clinically meaningful thresholds for assessment tools, examining sex differences in recovery patterns, and exploring wearable technology for monitoring recovery in student athletes.

Dr. Suskauer advises multiple research projects through the Center for Brain Injury Recovery and Brain Injury Clinical Research Center. Her lab conducts studies with specific pediatric populations including children ages 10-17 with traumatic brain injury, children ages 8-18 who have had traumatic brain injury, and right-handed teenagers 13-17 years old with sports-related concussion.
