Dr. Stacey Trevathan-Tackett is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Science at RMIT University, Australia. Her research focuses on wetland soil carbon dynamics, microbial ecology, and blue carbon ecosystems. She has held academic positions including Senior Research Fellow and ARC DECRA Fellow at Deakin University. Her work integrates fundamental and applied approaches to improve wetland preservation and restoration outcomes.
Research interests include coastal and freshwater wetland carbon sequestration, microbiome interactions, seagrass disease ecology, and the impact of environmental stressors like plastic pollution. She collaborates on projects such as ocean alkalinity enhancement and mangrove restoration using eco-friendly materials.
Dr. Trevathan-Tackett has supervised research projects on plastic pollution in blue carbon ecosystems and ocean alkalinity feasibility. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 13 (Climate Action) and 14 (Life Below Water). She contributes to global initiatives like the TeaComposition Initiative, emphasizing international collaboration in litter decomposition studies.
Publications span journals like Earth-Science Reviews, Science of the Total Environment, and Environmental Science & Technology, addressing topics from microbial community dynamics to climate mitigation strategies. She actively engages in industry collaborations and PhD supervision to advance applied environmental science.
