Stacey Lawson

Dr. Stacey Lawson serves as the Interim Program Director for the Department of Social Work at Whittier College. She holds a Doctor of Social Work from California Baptist University, a Master of Science in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from California State University, Fullerton. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2021.

Her research focuses on mental health prevention and treatment in higher education, addressing stigmas and disparities among minority populations. She emphasizes evidence-based interventions and advocacy in mental health. Dr. Lawson teaches courses on human behavior, community and organizational social work, social welfare policy, and practicum/seminar courses.

Her professional service includes advising the Phi Alpha Honor Society at Whittier College, leading the Social Work Council, and collaborating on community projects in Los Angeles. She has presented on topics such as mental health interventions for Latiné students and cyberbullying effects, including a 2023 presentation on campus-based mental health interventions and a 2022 talk on Schwartz’s Theory of Values in higher education settings.
