Stacey Katz Bourns

Stacey Katz Bourns is a Professor of French and Chair of the World Languages and Cultures Department at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities. She holds a PhD in French Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin, an MA in French Literature from the University of Michigan, and a BA in French from Tufts University. Her research focuses on French linguistics, including syntax, pragmatics, and applied linguistics, with an emphasis on curriculum development and bridging lower- and upper-level language education. She serves as Assistant Editor (Linguistics) for the French Review and has authored pedagogical materials such as Contextualized French Grammar: A Handbook. Her work explores spoken vs. written French grammar, linguistic register, and innovative teaching strategies.
