Stéphanie Monjon

Stéphanie Monjon is a Professor of Economics at Paris Dauphine-PSL University, where she joined in September 2011. She serves as head of the Master 1 International Affairs and Development program and was elected Vice President for Environmental and Social Responsibility in December 2024. As an environmental and energy economist, her work focuses on climate policy, the links between globalization and the environment, energy security, environmental policies in China, and the circular economy.

Dr. Monjon received her PhD in innovation economics from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at University College London (UCL). Prior to joining Paris Dauphine-PSL University, she worked for 5 years at the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) before joining the International Centre for Research on Environment and Development (CIRED) in 2008 to work on the impact of climate policies on industrial competitiveness.

Her research interests span climate policy, the intersections between globalization and environmental sustainability, energy security in a low-carbon transition, Chinese environmental policies, and the circular economy. Since September 2017, she has played a key role in the university's environmental governance, contributing to Paris Dauphine-PSL University obtaining the DDRSE label for environmental responsibility.

Dr. Monjon's publications reveal a consistent focus on the economic dimensions of environmental challenges, with particular attention to international trade implications of climate policies, energy pricing dynamics, and the effectiveness of environmental governance frameworks. Her recent work increasingly addresses practical implementation challenges of energy transition policies, including corporate adaptation strategies to energy price shocks and the role of environmental sobriety in the transition process.

As Vice President for Environmental and Social Responsibility, she leads institutional efforts to integrate sustainability principles across the university's operations, research, and teaching missions, reflecting her commitment to translating academic research into practical environmental action.
