معرفی
Prof. Srinivasa R. Raghavan is the Patrick & Marguerite Sung Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research focuses on creating smart materials, including self-assembled systems, hydrogels, and nanocomposites with applications in drug delivery, hemostasis, and environmental remediation. His lab has pioneered electroadhesion for tissue repair and developed FDA-approved blood-gelling polymers.
Research interests include complex fluids, biomaterials, and nature-inspired materials. Notable achievements include the invention of a hemostatic foam commercialized by Medcura, three startups spun off from his lab, and over 20 patents. Recent work explores stimuli-responsive materials, oil spill dispersants, and 3D bioprinting alternatives using electroformation.
- Awards: 2009 UMD Invention of the Year Award (Hemostatic Polymer Technology)
- Students: Advised PhD students including Sohyun Ahn (Novavax Inc.), Leah Borden (Nature Communications publication), Hema Choudhary, and Nikhil Subraveti.
- Grants & Commercialization: $2.3M NIH grant for biofabrication, multiple industry partnerships, and FDA-approved medical products.
Group members have published in Nature Communications, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, and Langmuir. The lab uses techniques like rheology, light scattering, and neutron scattering (SANS) to study molecular self-assembly.
