Srinivas Garimella is the Hightower Chair in Engineering and Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology's Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, leading the Sustainable Thermal Systems Laboratory. He holds a PhD from The Ohio State University (1990) and has held academic and industry roles including positions at Iowa State University, Western Michigan University, Battelle Memorial Institute, and General Motors.
His research focuses on sustainable energy systems, including absorption heat pumps, phase-change microchannel heat exchangers, and thermal management for automotive and building applications. He has pioneered studies on heat and mass transfer in binary mixtures, supercritical fluid dynamics, and energy efficiency solutions.
Honors include the ASME ICNMM 2012 Outstanding Researcher Award, Ohio State Alumni Achievement Award, and NSF CAREER Award. His work bridges academia and industry, addressing global challenges in decarbonization and energy sustainability.
