Spanou Sofia is a Lecturer in the Department of Plant Biology at the School of Sciences, University of Patras. She holds a BSc in Biology (1995), an MSc in Conservation from University College London, and a PhD from the University of Patras (2010).

- Postgraduate teaching: Biodiversity Assessment and Biomonitoring, Environmental Planning and Management
Her research focuses on ecological assessment and management of natural ecosystems, with a strong emphasis on GIS applications in environmental studies. She contributes to biodiversity monitoring, habitat mapping, and environmental impact analysis using remote sensing and phytosociological methods.
