Sorina Barza is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Karlstad University, Sweden. Her research focuses on real and functional analysis, particularly maximal functions, spaces of bounded variation, weighted inequalities, and factorizations in Lorentz and Banach function spaces. She has collaborated with institutions like the University of Barcelona, Charles University of Prague, and Luleå Technical University. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Mathematics from Luleå University of Technology (2000), supervised by Prof. Lars-Erik Persson, and a Licentiate (1997) and M.Sc. (1989) from the University of Bucharest.
Barza teaches courses in calculus, functional analysis, and engineering programs, and has supervised multiple students, including one PhD student. Her work bridges theoretical mathematics with applications in operator theory, inequalities, and function spaces. Recent publications explore optimal domains for Cesàro and Hardy operators, end-point estimates for maximal operators, and Hardy-type inequalities in Banach spaces. She co-edited a conference volume honoring Prof. Persson on his 80th anniversary (2024).
Her research contributions span over 30 years, with key areas including multidimensional integral inequalities, duality theorems, and matriceal analogues of classical analysis concepts. Despite no explicitly listed awards, her prolific publication record and international collaborations highlight her academic prominence.
