Dr. Sorin Rizeanu is an Assistant Professor at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, teaching courses such as Managerial Finance (MBA) and International Finance Management. He holds a PhD in International Finance from the University of South Carolina, an IMBA from the same institution, and an MSc in Applied Statistics and Optimization from Bucharest University. His research focuses on corporate governance mechanisms, international finance dynamics, and firm valuation under varying institutional and ownership structures. Notable research areas include audit quality’s impact on debt maturity, ownership concentration effects, and the governance role of large shareholders.
Dr. Rizeanu has been recognized with the 2013 Best Teacher Award from the Commerce Student Society and has contributed to prestigious journals like Contemporary Accounting Research and Journal of Management and Governance. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical implications for investors and policymakers, addressing topics such as exchange rate risk, fiscal policy, and corporate debt structures. He has also authored several case studies published by Wiley, focusing on valuation, capital structure, and portfolio risk.
